Make sure the folders are actually IMAP folders. The second is that you are using an IMAP client normally, but you haven't subscribed to the additional folders in your webmail or new email client. The first is that your normal email client is a POP client, and folders other than the inbox are only on your local machine - they were never created on the server. Likely cause: There are two possible causes of missing folders. Folders from one email client are missing in webmail or a second email client. Finally, disable or reconfigure the POP inbox so it leaves a copy of each message on the server. This should sync them up with the server again. Solution: Set up an IMAP account on that same device, then drag and drop the emails from the POP inbox to the IMAP inbox. Likely cause: Have you recently checked your email from using POP POP on a computer or mobile device other than your normal one? If so, you may have accidentally downloaded the emails to that machine, pulling them off of the server. Symptoms You suddenly notice a large chunk of emails missing from your inbox. If you need to edit or delete filters, you can find all of them by clicking on the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen and selecting "Settings." You can find all of your filters by clicking "Filters and Blocked Addresses. This article covers several causes for missing email and links for instructions on adjusting your spam filter (a common reason for missing emails). Click on the three dot icon on the top left, followed by "Filter messages like these." On the next screen, click "Create filter" and then check the box for "Mark as read." If you have a bunch of these emails that are unread, you can also check the box that says "Also apply filter to matching conversations." Finish the process by clicking on "Create filter." Start by clicking on one of these emails. This is best used for things like receipts from services you often use, such as Uber, Venmo, Netflix or Apple. I suggest using Gmail's filter features to automatically mark certain emails read without deleting them. Now that you're cleared out, let's do something about that constantly rising counter of unread emails.
